Desert Rose Selenite, also known as Gypsum Rose or Sand Rose, is a type of Selenite formed from a combination of water, wind, and sand.
 
Sand Rose is the name given to rosette formations of the minerals gypsum and barite with sand inclusions. The 'petals' are flattened crystals which occurs when the crystals form in arid sandy conditions.
 
Desert Rose Selenite is commonly found in most deserts around the world in countries such as Mexico, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Tunisia, and Afghanistan.
